At different points in your life, if you are lucky like me, you will meet people who will inspire you to think outside “your box”. These people will challenge you to be better than you thought possible, and will encourage you to do extraordinary things. A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to work on a mini project with my two good friends Royan Lee and Joanne Babalis. We got together and chatted about our work, our passions, our families, and of course our blogs.
Royan describes himself as a family man (father of 3), a progressive educator, and a general nerd (totally). He is a teacher, a consultant with the YRDSB, and the creator of The Spicy Learning Blog. There he writes about himself, his beautiful and multi-talented family, the latest EduTech, and his thoughts on all things interesting. His writing is witty, extremely intelligent, and thought provoking and you will savour his every word.
Joanne is a dynamic, and creative thinker who is passionate about working with children and adults in creating beauty through inquiry and exploration. She is one of the 5 busiest women I know. She daylights as a teacher librarian, moonlights as a PhD student, and presents and speaks for her company TransformEd Consulting Services. Her blog TransformEd chronicles her work in stunning visual explosions of colour. To enter is to be inspired.
Those of you that have been following me from the beginning know that the birth of my blog ThirteenthLook.com was just 6 months ago. Since then I’ve written about my journey in education, my life as a new mom, my amazing husband S, and my baby girl Summer-Reid all through the lenses of my passion for fashion and style. My Blog is a collection of stories of about change and self discovery, I hope you will find inspiration through my writing.
Together with the help of a very talented director and media crew we filmed our first video together. We talk about how and why we started blogging, and what our blogs are about. It is titled Origins of a Blogger. I am very excited to share it with you, I hope you enjoy it.
P.S. Have you noticed the fabulous bling on both Joanne and myself? I’m wearing an iridescent design from Lauren Hope and Joanne is sporting an elaborate crystal piece from Kate Spade. We tried to get Royan to bling it up too, but he drew the line at a bright blue button down. (lol, maybe next time R?)

Yes, I will bling it up next like Flava Flav on his wedding day. Not.
Thanks again for this amazing day!
